Position Summary:

Cornerstone Montessori Elementary School is seeking volunteer School Board Members to help guide the mission, strategy, and governance of the organization. This role is an opportunity to contribute to a community-focused educational institution while gaining leadership and board experience.

Responsibilities:

• Help define and uphold the mission and strategic direction of the school.
• Approve and monitor organizational goals, programs, and annual plans.
• Support and evaluate the performance of the Head of School.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Assist with fundraising goals and development initiatives.
• Serve as an ambassador for the school within the community.
• Participate in board meetings, committees, and school events.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
• Support recruitment and development of board members.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Resident of the Twin Cities area (St. Paul preferred).
• Experience or interest in one or more areas: leadership, finance, communication, strategic planning, or collaboration.
• Willingness to actively participate in meetings and support board initiatives.
• No prior nonprofit board experience required.

Additional Information:

• Term: 3 years
• Monthly board meetings held on the 3rd Tuesday at 6 PM.
• In-person participation encouraged, with virtual option available.
• Occasional board retreats (up to twice per year).
• No financial contribution required.
