About the Role

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join its Translational Omics Program (TOP) and ORIGIN Initiative, helping translate genomic and proteomic discoveries into improved diagnosis and treatment for patients with rare and complex diseases. This position combines genomics, proteomics, computational biology, and clinical research in a highly collaborative, patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead translational research projects focused on rare and complex diseases.
  • Analyze and integrate genomic, proteomic, and other multi-omics datasets.
  • Perform genetic variant interpretation using ACMG/AMP guidelines.
  • Develop AI and machine learning models for genomics and proteomics research.
  • Investigate new gene-disease associations and therapeutic targets.
  • Conduct genotype-first and population-scale biobank studies.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, genetic counselors, laboratory scientists, and research teams.
  • Present research findings at conferences and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Publish manuscripts, case reports, and scientific papers.
  • Build internal and external research collaborations.

Qualifications

Required

  • PhD, MD, or equivalent in genetics, genomics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in either:
    • Molecular biology/genetics with an interest in computational methods, or
    • Computational biology/data science with an interest in molecular genetics.
  • Interest in translational, patient-centered research.

Preferred

  • Experience integrating genomic and proteomic data.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML methods for multi-omics analysis.
  • Experience with biobanks, population-scale datasets, or genotype-first studies.
  • Strong publication record.
  • Experience with variant interpretation and ACMG/AMP guidelines.

Schedule

  • Full-Time (80 hours per pay period)
  • Monday–Friday
  • Weekend work as needed
