Overview

Provides substance use services to residents at the Minnesota Veterans Home – Hastings Domiciliary Program. Responsibilities include assessment, counseling, group facilitation, referrals, and education for Veterans, their families, and staff.

Pay

$27.53 – $35.21 per hour

Schedule

Full Time

May include travel between Hastings and Minneapolis locations

Provides transportation support for residents as needed

Responsibilities

• Conducts substance use assessments and develops care plans.
• Provides individual and group counseling for residents.
• Facilitates substance use education for Veterans, families, and staff.
• Coordinates referrals to additional substance use and behavioral health resources.
• Serves as a liaison with partnering agencies.
• Documents services and maintains accurate electronic health records.
• Supports residents in accessing community-based services.
• Travels between program locations as required.

Qualifications

• Current LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) licensure in Minnesota in good standing.
• Experience in behavioral health programs including assessments, care planning, and counseling.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with electronic health records and documentation.
• Knowledge of counseling approaches such as Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.
• CPR or BLS certification (or ability to obtain before transporting residents).

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensure or eligibility as a Mental Health Professional (social work, counseling, psychology, or marriage and family therapy).
• Experience working with Veterans.
• Experience in interdisciplinary team settings.
• Knowledge of co-occurring disorders including substance use and serious mental illness.
