The Intermediate Benefits Processor supports Minnesota educators by helping them understand and navigate retirement benefits through the Teachers Retirement Association. This role involves analyzing, auditing, and performing a variety of calculations related to pension benefits, as well as clearly communicating options to members. The position works closely with educators through phone, in-person, and written communication to ensure they can make informed financial decisions. Employees begin with a fully in-person training period and transition to a hybrid schedule based on performance and business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, audit, and calculate retirement benefits, including complex calculations
- Explain benefit options and retirement planning information to educators
- Communicate with members via phone, email, written correspondence, and in-person meetings
- Interpret and apply laws, policies, and procedures related to pension benefits
- Assist members in understanding the value of retirement planning
- Identify issues and recommend process improvements
Qualifications:
Required
- Two years of experience in customer service related to benefits, accounting, payroll, finance, or insurance
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience
- Experience performing calculations
- Ability to explain financial concepts to different audiences
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to interpret laws and policies
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar tools
- Ability to travel occasionally for business needs
Preferred
- Experience working on technical or organizational projects
- Experience in pension funds or financial services
- Advanced degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Math, or related field

Additional Information:
- Initial 6 months require full-time in-office training
- Hybrid work schedule available after training
- Standard 40-hour workweek
- Occasional overtime or flexible scheduling may be required
- Up to 10 percent travel may be required
