About the Role

The City of Saint Paul Public Works Traffic Operations Division is hiring Electricians to perform electrical work involving the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and communications systems. Current openings include both certified and temporary electrician positions.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and modify electrical, electronic, and communications systems.
• Maintain and repair high- and low-voltage electrical equipment, including fiber optic systems.
• Install, maintain, and test equipment such as:
  • Traffic signals
  • Streetlights
  • Pumps
  • Microprocessors
  • Control panels
  • Transformers
• Perform electrical work for facility construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
• Operate aerial lifts, ladders, hand tools, and specialized electrical equipment.
• Follow OSHA regulations and City safety policies.
• Assist with snow emergency operations, including plowing, when required.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Minnesota Class A Journey-Level Electrician License.
• Valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s License (or equivalent).
• Valid Class B or Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no air brake restriction.
• No CDL suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses within the previous two years.
• Ability to pass:
  • DOT pre-employment drug screening.
  • Random DOT drug and alcohol testing after hire.

Schedule

• Day and evening shift opportunities available.
• Occasional after-hours callbacks.
• Participation in snow emergency response required.
