About the Role
The City of Saint Paul is seeking a Deputy Director of Planning and Economic Development to help shape the future of Minnesota’s capital city. This executive leadership role partners with the department director to oversee economic development, housing, planning, and real estate initiatives that support equitable growth, neighborhood revitalization, and long-term community investment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic initiatives focused on economic development, housing, planning, and real estate investment.
- Provide executive leadership for departmental operations and cross-functional teams.
- Build partnerships with developers, financial institutions, community organizations, and government leaders.
- Drive innovation through process improvements, technology, and operational excellence.
- Represent the department and City leadership in meetings and community engagement efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Economics, Finance, Real Estate, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, economic development, housing, or real estate development/finance.
- Two years of management experience leading teams, organizational strategy, and complex projects.
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
