Position Overview

The City of Saint Paul is hiring a Deputy Director for the Office of Financial Services (OFS). This leadership role focuses on managing financial operations, supervising accounting and ERP system teams, improving financial service delivery, and supporting strategic planning for the department.

Main Responsibilities

• Serve as operations manager for the Office of Financial Services
• Supervise 20 FTEs across:
  • Accounting
  • ERP finance systems
  • Citywide grants management
• Improve delivery of financial services
• Support staff recruitment, development, and retention
• Assist with:
  • Annual financial reporting
  • Audits
  • Budget oversight
  • Month-end close activities
  • Electronic payment processes
• Represent the department in meetings when the Director is absent
• Help implement departmental strategic plans

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 7 years of experience managing financial programs or systems
• 4 years of experience involving:
  • Employee supervision
  • Organizational assessments
  • Strategic planning
  • Leading complex projects

Additional Qualification Notes

• Master’s degree can substitute for 2 years of experience
• Combination of education and experience totaling 11+ years accepted
