The City of Saint Paul is hiring a full-time Custodian II to support the Saint Paul Public Library system by maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces. This position plays an important role in supporting daily library operations and ensuring a positive experience for library visitors and staff.

The current opening is based at the Rondo Community Library and includes travel to additional library sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Clean restrooms and maintain sanitation standards throughout library facilities.
• Vacuum and edge offices, hallways, and common areas.
• Remove trash from offices, breakrooms, grounds, and public spaces.
• Sweep and mop breakrooms, stairwells, and other facility areas.
• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance including lawn care and snow removal.
• Assist with floor stripping, waxing, and custodial maintenance projects.
• Support Custodial Engineers with light maintenance duties.
• Help maintain safe, clean, and welcoming environments for staff and patrons.

Qualifications

• Good physical condition required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s License or equivalent out-of-state license for library and related city department positions.
• Ability to perform physical custodial work across multiple locations.

Payment

Hourly pay range: $27.43 – $30.90 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time position.

Current schedule:
Monday – Wednesday: 1:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Position requires travel between library sites.
