Position Summary

Knutson Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for commercial construction projects in Rochester, Minnesota. This role is responsible for overseeing daily field activities, coordinating project schedules, maintaining safety and quality standards, managing project costs, and ensuring successful project delivery. The Superintendent serves as the primary field leader, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, owners, and design professionals to create an exceptional construction experience while maintaining Knutson’s Zero Incident Safety Culture.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations for assigned commercial construction projects.
• Develop, maintain, and implement project schedules in coordination with project teams.
• Coordinate site activities, materials, equipment, and subcontractor sequencing.
• Maintain daily construction logs and project documentation.
• Assist with RFIs, procurement tracking, and project reporting.
• Enforce quality assurance and quality control standards.
• Monitor project costs and identify financial risks or out-of-scope work.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with owners, subcontractors, inspectors, and stakeholders.
• Mentor and support Assistant Superintendents, Foremen, Field Engineers, and Project Engineers.
• Lead daily safety meetings and conduct regular safety audits.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, MPCA, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate responses to safety inspections and incident reporting.
• Participate in business development and company growth initiatives.


Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 10-15 years of commercial construction experience.
• Proven experience leading construction projects from start to finish.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, blueprints, specifications, and project lifecycles.
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and field operations.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards, building codes, and state and federal regulations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
• OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training required.
• Willingness to travel as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Superintendent with a commercial general contractor.
• Successful completion of commercial projects valued at $10 million or more as Lead Superintendent.
• Experience in education, healthcare, science and technology, industrial, or higher education construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed work such as concrete, demolition, finish work, or flatwork.
• Remodeling and phased-project experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
• Additional construction-related certifications preferred.
