Role Overview

Mayo Clinic is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join the GI Endoscopy practice on Gonda 9 South in Rochester, Minnesota. This outpatient nursing role provides direct patient care for adult patients undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures and supports all phases of patient care including intake, procedures, and recovery.

The position requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, critical thinking, multitasking, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced procedural environment. Nurses work collaboratively within Mayo Clinic’s Nursing Professional Practice Model while supporting patient education, procedural care, sedation monitoring, and recovery management.


Responsibilities

  • Provide direct outpatient nursing care, patient education, and coordination of care for GI endoscopy patients.
  • Work across all phases of GI endoscopy care including:
    Pre-Procedure Intake
    Intra-Procedure Care
    Post-Procedure Recovery
  • Complete GI-focused patient histories and assessments prior to procedures.
  • Review medications, allergies, and medical histories to ensure patient readiness for procedures.
  • Provide patient education regarding endoscopic procedures and care instructions.
  • Administer moderate sedation under physician direction during procedures.
  • Monitor patient physiology, airway management, and sedation responses during procedures.
  • Monitor patients during recovery and assess discharge readiness following sedation.
  • Interpret ECG rhythms and obtain ACLS certification within 3–6 months of employment.
  • Coordinate patient care, transitions of care, and communication with patients and families.
  • Participate in leadership activities, mentoring, quality improvement efforts, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Delegate patient care appropriately based on patient needs, staff skills, and available resources.
  • Support Mayo Clinic nursing standards and professional practice expectations.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program recognized by:
    Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
    Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
    National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)
  • Minimum one year of RN experience required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork skills required.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including days, evenings, holidays, weekends, and on-call shifts if needed.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable clinical situations and changing patient needs.
  • Current RN license required prior to start date.
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of start date through:
    American Heart Association
    Military Training Network
    American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification required within first 3–6 months of employment.
  • Additional specialty certifications or licensure may be required depending on work area.
  • This position is eligible for TN sponsorship with applicable licensure and certification requirements completed.


Payment

Hourly pay range: $39.64 – $62.64 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time position.

48–80 hours per pay period.

Monday through Friday daytime schedule with 8-hour shifts.

No weekends required.


Location

Rochester, Minnesota.

On-site GI Endoscopy nursing position at Mayo Clinic.
