Role Overview

The University of Minnesota AI Hub is hiring an AI Project Manager to coordinate and execute university-wide AI initiatives spanning:

• Teaching & Learning
• Research
• Operations
• Engagement
• AI literacy programming

This role serves as a central operational coordinator across the AI Hub and works closely with associate directors, agile teams, and communications/events staff to implement AI-related programs and strategic initiatives across the University system.

The position reports to the Managing Director of the AI Hub.

Compensation

• Pay range: $36.06–$40.39/hour
• Full-time (1.0 FTE)
• Civil Service position
• Hybrid eligible

Work Environment

Located in Johnston Hall, Minneapolis.

Possible work profiles:

• Profile 1: Mostly on-site
• Profile 2: Hybrid (3 days/week in office)
• Profile 3: Mostly remote (1–2 days/week in office)

Key Responsibilities

Cross-Pillar Strategy & Resource Coordination (20%)

• Translate AI strategic roadmaps into project plans
• Coordinate university-wide resources and assets
• Serve as central contact for agile AI teams
• Monitor project progress and alignment

Program Development & Execution (60%)

• Coordinate AI literacy curriculum initiatives
• Manage seed grant operational processes:
  • Review cycles
  • Award processes
  • Research/curriculum innovation support
• Oversee AI subgroups and ensure KPI completion

Communications & Event Integration (10%)

• Coordinate workshops, conferences, and lecture series
• Ensure accurate web and public-facing AI Hub content
• Support public trust and industry partnership initiatives

Administrative Oversight (10%)

• Track metrics and performance indicators
• Ensure projects stay within scope, budget, and quality expectations

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience
  OR
• Equivalent combination of education/work experience totaling 6 years
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Strong communication and detail orientation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience solving operational or technical problems
• Familiarity with Asana or similar project management tools
• Experience working with agile cross-functional teams
